Can you feel the sound of the Danube, the waves of deep sapphire blue, flowing through 150 years of the “Blue Danube Waltz”? Visit this year‘s opera ball in Vienna, and you will see 144 debutant couples crowned with Karl Lagerfeld‘s “Blue Danube Tiara”. Together they will recreate the gentle waves of the Danube River, when they will float across the ballroom to the tunes of Johann Strauss‘ famous waltz. Today this precious piece of Swarovski jewellery was presented to the World, and this is what it looks like:
The tiara is made up of 394 clear and sapphire blue Swarovski crystals and five Swarovski pearls. It is Karl Lagerfeld‘s reminiscence of the waves of the Blue Danube and comes in the 150th anniversary year of the famous “Blue Danube Waltz” by Johann Strauss II. Hanna Gumpinger, representing the 144 debutant pairs at the press conference, is just as radiant as her shining tiara.
Hanna is 19 years old, and she is excited to open the 2017 opera ball – her very first appearance at a ball dance. She is a debutant in the historical sense of the word.
